Looking for a role where your support makes a real difference, your contribution is valued and you can become part of a friendly, supportive school community?
Whitchurch Primary School is a small, one-form entry village school with a strong sense of community and a commitment to providing a rich, inclusive and engaging education for all our pupils.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive and committed Teaching Assistant to join our team after October half term.
The role combines work as a Teaching Assistant during the school day with supporting our Breakfast and After School Club provision. We need to provide staffing across 7:30am–6:00pm, Monday to Thursday and 7:30am-1:25pm on Friday, but we recognise that these hours may not suit everyone and are very happy to consider flexible working patterns in order to find the right person or people for our school.
We welcome applications from candidates interested in the full working week, but would also consider splitting the role. For example, this could be:
- by day – Monday to Wednesday and Thursday to Friday; or
- across the day – an earlier shift covering Breakfast Club and the morning, and a later shift covering the afternoon and After School Club.
We are also open to discussing other workable combinations which enable us to provide consistent cover across the week. Please make clear in your application the days and hours you would be interested in working.
The Teaching Assistant element of the vacancy is currently within Key Stage 2. However, we are looking for the right person (or people) for our school and there may be flexibility around deployment depending on experience, strengths and the needs of the school.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers to support high-quality teaching and learning, working with individuals and groups of pupils and helping children to develop confidence, independence and a love of learning.
We are looking for someone who:
- experience of working with children
- builds warm, positive and professional relationships with children
- is confident supporting learning with individuals and groups
- can use their initiative while working effectively as part of a team
- understands that different children need different approaches to help them succeed
- is flexible, reliable and willing to get involved in the wider life of our school
- has high expectations for all pupils
- shares our commitment to ensuring children feel safe, happy and able to thrive.
Experience of supporting pupils with additional needs would be particularly valuable.
In return, we offer:
- polite, curious and enthusiastic children
- a genuinely supportive and friendly staff team
- small class sizes
- strong relationships with families and our local community
- opportunities for training and professional development
- a welcoming village setting (with alpacas nearby!)
- and, of course, a steady supply of tea and cake.
Visits to the school are warmly encouraged. We would love prospective applicants to come and meet us, see the school and get a feel for what makes Whitchurch special.
