Caversham Primary School is looking for an experienced SENCO to join our team. We are a friendly, welcoming and inclusive school which owes its success to a great team of hard- working staff, pupils that love to learn, and parents who support the school. What skills and experience are we looking for?
Essential Criteria:
- Qualified Teacher Status.
- National Award for SENCo.
- Evidence of relevant professional development, particularly relating to SEND and behaviour.
- Successful SENCO experience in a primary setting.
- Experience of working with pupils with a range of SEND, including SEMH.
- Experience of leading, coaching or supporting staff in inclusive practice.
- Thorough knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and relevant legislation.
- Skilled in de-escalation strategies and restorative approaches.
- Ability to design and implement positive behaviour strategies and individualised support (behaviour) plans.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage and maintain accurate SEND records.
- Understanding of effective provision for pupils with additional needs.
- Ability to deliver effective staff training/ CPD.
- Knowledge of access arrangements for statutory tests.
- High expectations for all pupils and a commitment to inclusion.
- Calm, reflective and solution-focused approach.
- Ability to build strong relationships with pupils, staff and families.
- Commitment to the ethos and values of Caversham Primary School.
- Resilience and ability to work under pressure.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
