Caversham Primary School is looking for an experienced SENCO to join our team. What skills and experience are we looking for?
Essential Criteria:

• Qualified Teacher Status.
• National Award for SENCo.
• Evidence of relevant professional development, particularly relating to SEND and behaviour.
• Successful SENCO experience in a primary setting.
• Experience of working with pupils with a range of SEND, including SEMH.
• Experience of leading, coaching or supporting staff in inclusive practice.
• Thorough knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and relevant legislation.
• Skilled in de-escalation strategies and restorative approaches.
• Ability to design and implement positive behaviour strategies and individualised support (behaviour) plans.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to manage and maintain accurate SEND records.
• Understanding of effective provision for pupils with additional needs.
• Ability to deliver effective staff training/ CPD.
• Knowledge of access arrangements for statutory tests.
• High expectations for all pupils and a commitment to inclusion.
• Calm, reflective and solution-focused approach.
• Ability to build strong relationships with pupils, staff and families.
• Commitment to the ethos and values of Caversham Primary School.
• Resilience and ability to work under pressure.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
• Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
