Learning Support Assistant
- Start date: ASAP
- Salary: Band D Actual salary £22,054 - £23,413 including SEN point (£1589 pa pro rata)
- Hours: 33.75 hours per week, term time only + INSET days
- Closing date: 18 September 2026
Are you creative, dedicated and passionate about supporting children and young people with special educational needs?
We are seeking a committed and hard-working Learning Support Assistant to join
our friendly and supportive team.
Working closely with the class teacher, you will help provide an engaging, inclusive and stimulating educational experience for pupils with a range of physical and learning needs. You will support pupils to access learning, develop independence and achieve their full potential in a nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the class teacher in delivering high-quality learning experiences.
- Plan, prepare and develop resources that promote pupil engagement and attainment.
- Provide effective 1:1 and small-group support tailored to pupils’ individual needs.
- Help create a positive, stimulating and inclusive learning environment.
- Lead learning activities and manage the class in the teacher’s absence.
- Assist pupils with personal care needs where required.
- Participate in indoor and outdoor learning and physical activities throughout the year.
About You
The successful candidate will:
- Have experience working with pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in either a group or 1:1 setting.
- Be creative, proactive and adaptable in their approach.
- Have excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Be committed to supporting pupils with a range of learning and physical needs.
- Be willing to work both indoors and outdoors in all seasons.
- Be able to participate in physical activities as part of the role.
- Be comfortable providing personal care when required.
Experience of supporting pupils with medical conditions, such as epilepsy, would be advantageous, although full training and ongoing support will be provided.
