Teachers and leaders from schools and trusts in the region covered by Greensheets featured in this year’s New Year Honours list. William Smith, chief executive officer and founder of the Greenshaw Learning Trust (GLT) was awarded an OBE for services to education. The GLT’s schools include Crown Wood Primary School in Bracknell , Hartland High School in Reading and Park House School in Newbury. Commenting on the award, Mr Smith said: ‘I am deeply humbled and proud to receive this honour. It is truly a testament to the dedication of colleagues I have had the privilege to work with and be influenced by throughout my career. Education is a collective effort, and this recognition belongs to the Greenshaw Learning Trust community, including all of its staff and schools.’

There was an also an MBE, again for services to education, for Jacqueline Dellar, former chief executive officer of Oxford Diocesan Schools Trust (ODST). Datchet St Mary’s CE Primary Schoool near Windsor, The Hendreds CE Primary School near Wantage and New Christ Church CE Primary School in Reading are all part of the ODST. Also awarded an MBE for services to education was Rachael Warwick, former chief executive officer of the Ridgeway Education Trust (RET), Oxfordshire. The RET has a number of schools in and around Didcot, including Didcot Girls’ School and St Birinus School.

There were also MBEs for David Hudson, headteacher for over a decade at the Royal Latin School – a coeducational state grammar school based in Buckingham which dates back to 1423 – and John Towers. headmaster at Barrow Hills School, an independent school in Godalming, Surrey.
