  • Contract: Part time, 16.25 hours a week five afternoons, Monday to Friday, term time plus 5 INSET days. Hours flexible.

Two acres of outdoor classroom - and someone to bring it to life

Cheapside is a warm, single-form Church of England primary school with two acres of grounds most schools can only dream of: woodland, a pond and gardens. We want outdoor learning to be part of our curriculum from Reception to Year 6, not an occasional treat. Every afternoon of the school week belongs to it, and you will lead it.

What you’ll do

  • Plan, deliver and assess high-quality Forest School sessions matched to pupils’ ages, needs and curriculum
  • Develop our forest, pond and garden areas as safe, purposeful and inspiring spaces
  • Work with teachers to weave outdoor learning into curriculum planning, modelling practice and building staff confidence
  • Carry out risk assessments and maintain high standards of health, safety and safeguarding outdoors
  • Manage the tools, equipment and resources outdoor learning needs

The person we’re looking for
Essential:

  • Experience of working with children in an educational or outdoor
    setting
  • Level 3 Forest School Leader qualification, or working towards it with our support
  • A current first aid qualification (Outdoor First Aid, or willingness to obtain it)
  • A sound understanding of health, safety and risk management outdoors
  • A genuine passion for the outdoors and for hands-on learning
  • The ability to build warm, professional relationships with children, staff and families
  • A commitment to our Christian vision and values, and to safeguarding every child

Desirable:

  • Experience across Reception to Year 6
  • Experience of supporting pupils with SEND
  • Experience of training or developing colleagues

What we can offer you

  • A beautiful two-acre site, and the chance to shape how we use it
  • A post built entirely around outdoor learning, with no competing demands
  • Regular Forest School CPD, and the chance to train colleagues
  • A school that lives its values, and a kind staff team
