We are looking to appoint an Assistant Librarian. The successful applicant will work closely with the Library Manager with all aspects of running the school library, providing a welcoming, organised and safe learning environment for the whole school community.
As Assistant Librarian you will help develop student reading motivation and culture, use of information and digital literacy and encourage independent learning. You will deputise for the Library Manager and be the sole supervisor on a designated day of the week.
On occasion the role may require extra hours, but this will be by prior arrangement with the Library Manager; therefore, the successful applicant needs to have a flexible approach.
The Willink is a successful and oversubscribed school with a strong international ethos. As the preferred state school in our area, we attract learners beyond our catchment, including Hampshire, Reading and Wokingham. The school has over 1200 students on roll including 200 in the Sixth Form, and is situated in a pleasant semi-rural setting south west of Reading.
For further information and an application pack, please visit the school website or contact Kim Paonessa, at hr@willink.w-berks.sch.uk
For an informal conversation about the role, please contact Rosie Davis, the Library Manager at rdavis@willink.w-berks.sch.uk or call 0118 9832030.
Closing date: Monday 8 June 2026
Interviews are likely to be Thursday 18 June 2026
Applications will be reviewed on receipt. Early application is advised as we hold the right to close the application process early if a suitable applicant applies and is appointed.
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicants will be required to apply for an enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). Further information can be found at www.homeoffice.gov.uk
