Profound & Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) Teaching Assistant

NJC Payscale 19–22. Salary range £24,777–£26,043.
Full time, 34.5 hours per week; term time only plus five INSET days.

The Teaching Assistant will work across our PMLD Pathway, supporting the classes to provide care and learning experiences for our pupils, encouraging them to develop to the best of their potential. The role involves planning resources, regularly leading classes for up to one day a week, helping to write Annual Review Reports, attending professional meetings if required and helping with medicines administration. Previous experience of working with PMLD and medically complex SEN students is essential. 

Specialist Assistant for Physical Development

NJC Payscale 26–28. Salary range £28,910–£30,257.
Full time, 34.5 hours per week; term time only plus five INSET days.

The Specialist Assistant for Physical Development will model and promote best practice in all aspects of Physical Development. You will help support hydro sessions, work alongside professional sports organisations to develop PD opportunities within the school, help plan and deliver whole school special events including Sports Week and maintain our PD resources. Previous experience of working in a similar role is essential. 

What we’re looking for the Teaching Assistant & Specialist Assistant: 

  • Previous experience of working as a Teaching Assistant is essential. 
  • Adaptability, pro-activity, resilience and being able to think on your feet are essential. 
  • An ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people. 
  • A good command of English and Mathematics are essential (at GCSE level). 
  • Strong ICT skills. 
  • Be friendly, kind, patient and calm and be willing to join a team where we all do a bit of everything.
