Technology Technician

NJC Band 3 Points 5–6. Actual: £15,946–£16,111 pa (FTE £18,957–£19,171 pa).
37 hours per week Term time only plus three INSET days.

Prospect School is looking for an enthusiastic and pro-active Technician to join our busy and diverse Technology Department. The postholder will provide practical support to teaching staff and students, predominantly assisting with Construction, Engineering, Woodwork/Resistant Materials and Product Design.

The candidate should have some relevant practical experience, and will preferably have either a background of working in schools, or industry-related experience in one of the taught subject areas. An awareness of relevant health and safety procedures and willingness to undertake further professional development is essential. A good level of ICT is required for the role, and previous experience of using basic CAD packages would be advantageous. Full training and guidance for specific equipment and machinery will be provided. 

Key elements to this role include:

  • Supporting students and staff in preparing materials for lessons. 
  • Maintaining workshop and practical areas, ensuring tools, equipment and materials are kept in an operable and safe manner and ready to use by staff and students.
  • Maintaining and operating specialist tools and machinery within the department.
