Grade C /WBC Spinal Point 3-5, £18,562-£19,312 pro-rata p.a. (Approximately £11,061- £11,508 p.a.)
26.25 hours per week Monday – Friday term time only, plus one Inset day.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and diligent Teaching Assistant to work in our vibrant and dedicated Inclusion department. The Inclusion department helps pupils for whom engagement with learning is a barrier and also those who have Special Educational Needs (SEND).  

The successful candidate will work with Inclusion leaders to ensure an outstanding provision for all students whilst focusing on those pupils who have a range of emotional literacy needs. The role includes working alongside pupils who are receiving extra support in the Inclusion department, through one to one and small group work and helping in the mainstream classroom. This post would ideally suit someone with a caring and compassionate nature who enjoys working with young people and seeing them succeed.

The person we are seeking will:

  • Work alongside our school Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) to improve standards of learning and achievement for students with a range of emotional needs, including those who have been affected by Covid 19;
  • Be able to inspire students who find the demands of school challenging or who are demotivated.
  • Work in a diverse and active environment with young people so as to remove barriers to learning and progress;
  • Support the school’s recovery curriculum work as part of our post school closure provision.
  • Support individual students as outlined in their Education & Health Care Plan and in liaison with the SENCo; 
  • Work willingly as part of a dedicated team who value every pupil and contribute to improving life chances;
  • Be willing to undertake training in order to support and develop their role.

Little Heath School is a highly successful comprehensive school (1658 on roll, including 366 in the Sixth Form) situated in a pleasant semi-rural setting to the west of Reading, with good access to road and rail links.  As a school, we pride ourselves on our Continuing Professional Development Programme, which supports teachers to continually improve their practice in innovative ways collaborating with other members of staff in order to develop their practice.
