Teaching Assistant 1:1 Support EYFS
- 2.5 hours per day

We are looking for a patient, nurturing Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a child in Early Years with emerging additional needs, including social communication differences, language delay, and sensory processing needs. The role is to help the child feel safe, understood, and able to access learning through consistent, child-centred support.
Key duties:
- Provide calm, consistent 1:1 support during the child’s school hours
- Support the child’s communication development using strategies provided by the class team and Speech & Language professionals
- Support the child’s sensory and emotional regulation through the implementation of a tailored Occupational Therapy programme.
- Help the child to access learning through play-based, practical and sensory-informed approaches
- Be aspirational and maintain high expectations, whilst also being adaptive and responsive to the child’s needs in the moment.
- Use visual supports, routines, and sensory strategies to support regulation and transitions
- Follow agreed strategies carefully to ensure a consistent approach
- Take a curious, reflective approach to behaviour, seeking to understand the child’s needs and remove barriers to learning
- Support the child in the swimming pool
- Encourage independence, confidence, and positive interactions with peers
- Support the child’s love of outdoor learning and ensure opportunities for movement and outdoor engagement
- Respond warmly to the child’s affectionate nature while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to share observations and support progress
- Work effectively within a team of Early Years professionals
