Waingels are committed to supporting an inclusive education for all, built around mutual respect and kindness for every member of our school community. We provide enhanced support for those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. Our Inclusion and Intervention Team work closely with students, parents/carers, teachers and outside agencies to ensure that all students are able to fully participate and make the most of every opportunity that is presented to them. The Inclusion and Intervention Team’s vision is that every pupil should be a responsible and positive learner who is resilient to change.
In addition to the whole school provision, we are creating a new post of a Teaching Assistant, within the Maths Department. We strongly believe that alongside educational excellence, it is necessary to equip every student with the skills needed to achieve the most out of life and to thrive academically, socially and emotionally. As a Teaching Assistant at Waingels you will have the opportunity to work as part of a team to help support our SEND students in achieving their learning goals. The role includes supporting students in the classroom, working alongside teachers and undertaking small group or 1:1 intervention. This is therefore an ideal role for candidates who are caring and committed to help our students access the curriculum and succeed with their learning.
The successful candidate would be expected to help and support students whose confidence in Maths is low and help to rebuild their enthusiasm. We are looking for someone who is caring, patient and resilient. An understanding of how to overcome finding Maths difficult would be beneficial, although specialist support and training will be provided. The initial focus will be on Key stage 3 students, aged 11 to 14, although this may be extended once in role.
If you feel your values and ethos align with ours, this is an exciting opportunity for you!
