Teaching and Behaviour Support Worker

Salary range, Grade 5. Permanent Contract.
From February 2020.
Closing date: noon, Monday 20 January 2020.

Foundry College is a ‘Good’ Pupil Referral Unit in the heart of the community of Wokingham supporting the young people, schools and families in the area as well as opening our doors to surrounding authorities. Our dedicated staff offer a range of educational, emotional and behaviour support, with bespoke packages for our students aged 5 - 16. The successful candidates will join us at an exciting time as we expand our services and aspire towards ‘Outstanding’, following our successful Ofsted inspection (January 2018).

Due to an increase in the number of pupils receiving their education on site at Foundry College generally, and in particular, the need for support for additional pupils who are unable to cope with the demands of a mainstream setting, we are looking to recruit two full time teaching and behaviour support specialists. The roles will include working alongside teachers with learning in all areas of the College, but with a specific focus on supporting either the primary pupils or secondary outdoor and sporting activities.

The ideal candidate will:

  • have a passion for building strong relationships with young people through restorative working
  • thrive in a challenging environment
  • be resilient and approachable
  • be a good communicator who is able to inspire and motivate pupils, but also remain calm under pressure and have a sense of humour
  • be creative and have initiative, striving to bring out the best in pupils

In return, we can offer you:

  • a bright, modern College with a creative approach to working with young people
  • excellent opportunities for professional development
  • a friendly and supportive staff team, dedicated to improving pupil outcomes and life chances
  • a Senior Leadership Team that encourages team work, innovation and the use of solution based thinking

The pupils, staff and Management Committee warmly invite you to visit us and see the ‘Foundry Family’ in action. We are sure you will experience our friendly, relaxed atmosphere and get a taste of how rewarding your work will be. Please contact Kim Watts on 0118 334 1510 to arrange a mutually convenient time.

To apply, please visit our website https://foundry.wokingham.sch.uk/vacancies/support-staff-vacancies/ where you will find the job description and application form. Completed Application Forms should be emailed to recruitment@foundry.wokingham.sch.uk
