Part Time SENCo

Term time only hours initially 2 mornings per week, which will increase
according to need; possibility of additional hours (10)
by taking on KS1 Reading Teacher role*.


Meadowbrook School is a small, well-established Independent primary school, founded on the principles of Montessori education but encompassing a range of forward-thinking and progressive child-centred practices. You will be supported to build upon the high standards established by the current SENCO with a view to taking over the teaching of children who receive additional one-to-one support and responsibility for implementing, overseeing & co-ordinating all SEND matters across the school. 

You will:

  • Be an outstanding and experienced SENCO qualified to a minimum OCR 5 -teaching dyslexic learners and/or hold ‘accredited teacher’ or ‘approved practitioner’ status with the British Dyslexia Association. 
  • Be experienced in using multi-sensory methods to teach and assess structured, sequential, cumulative spelling, reading and writing and numeracy programmes to dyslexic and dyscalculic students
  • Be interested in educational research and best practice so as to keep your approach fresh, innovative and student centred.
  • Be able to demonstrate a commitment to continuing the school’s unique ethos (including the application of Positive Discipline, Growth Mindset and AfL) and in doing so ensure the highest possible standards of teaching, learning and assessment.
  • Behave as a role model, inspiring and motivating fellow staff to share best practice, engaging in regular CPD and taking a full part in the school’s progression.
  • Be willing/available to attend induction training in the latter half of the summer term with a view to the role commencing in September.
