Science Technician

Required as soon as possible
Part time, term time only (+3 inset days). 16 hours per week (days/hours to be agreed).
Salary details £6,209–£6,617 (actual salary).

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and efficient Science Technician to join the school’s dedicated team of technicians who support the science department in delivering exciting and challenging lessons to our students. Science qualifications and a science background and/or laboratory experience is preferable but not essential, as full training will be provided. 

Most of our technicians’ time is spent in the well-equipped preparation room, with views across the West Berkshire countryside, preparing, setting up and tidying away the equipment and materials required for demonstrations and practical work. Occasionally the technicians are required to assist students in the classroom with practical work. 

The successful candidate will have a high level of organisational and communication skills and will also be someone who can work flexibly within a dynamic environment.

In addition, the successful candidate will have:

  • GCSE English and Maths, grade A* - C or equivalent
  • commitment to the safeguarding of students
  • the ability to work on their own initiative and within a team
  • a proven ability to work creatively and collaboratively, with a minimum of direct supervision
  • basic First Aid Training (desirable but not essential)
