The BSCS currently have a vacancy for a full-time Qualified Teacher of the Deaf (QTOD) to work in a peripatetic role with schools, early years settings, colleges and families (O–25), to build their capacity to meet the needs of learners who have a hearing loss, through our Teaching or Advisory programmes. We will consider qualified, experienced teachers willing to undertake the mandatory qualification. 

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, well organised and motivated professional committed to working with all our stakeholders and seeking to improve the outcomes for children with hearing loss. All teachers are on Teachers Pay and Conditions. 

The key aspects of the role will include:

  • Provide specialised teaching and support to students (0-25) with a hearing loss at home, in schools and colleges across Berkshire
  • Promote inclusion by facilitating the integration of students with a hearing loss into mainstream educational settings through early intervention, tech solutions and staff development
  • Ensure individualised support for children with hearing loss, allowing them access to the National Curriculum in compliance with Special Educational Needs Code of Practice (2014) (SENCOP)and Disability Discrimination Act (DDA)
