Learning Support Assistant/Sports Mentor

35 Hours per week, term time only
Salary £14,450–£15,750 pa depending on experience

Would you like to join the support staff team of an extremely popular and expanding secondary school? 

We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable individual to join the Shine team and provide targeted support to our students with ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder) as well as spend some time supporting those students during sports events and assisting the PE Department with organising sports fixtures for all of our students.

You will:

  • Work under the direction of classroom teachers and, in line with any agreed special needs and other specialist plans, provide support to individual students in the completion of a wide range of learning activities at all key stages. 
  • Take small groups of students for interventions and mentor nominated students, as well as supporting them during after school sports fixtures.
  • Plan for, attend and coach sports clubs during and after school and liaise with other schools to organise sports fixtures.

We are looking for a team player, with a willingness to acquire an understanding of the educational objectives and ethos of the school, who is able to communicate sensitively and confidently with staff, students, parents and on occasions other external agencies. This role would suit someone who is able to use their own initiative and who has strong organisational and time management skills. This role might suit someone who is working with or has worked with students in a secondary school environment and has experience or knowledge of either SEN (Special Educational Needs), ASD or both.
