This is an opportunity for an experienced Science teacher looking to take a step up and to play a key role in the professional leadership and management of a small and supportive department.

As Head of Science you will ensure high standards of teaching and learning are delivered, resources are used efficiently and effectively, and the curriculum is managed and developed in accordance with school policy. Your teaching responsibilities will include teaching the subject to pupils from Year 7 to Sixth Form.

You will also provide support with annual departmental plans, appraisals, the resourcing of the department, promote an ethos of teamwork and establish a culture of sharing good practice.

You will need the ability to lead and manage people to work towards a common goal, as well as good decision-making skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others, including primary and hospital leaders in developing the curriculum across Cranbury. 

As a teacher, you will have excellent subject knowledge and experience of teaching at KS3-5 and be able to work closely with others. Being up to date with professional developments in Science and other aspects of education is equally important.

Cranbury College is a 132 place alternative curriculum provider, including a Hospital Teaching Service, Behaviour Support Team, Secondary and Primary PRU, Individual Learning Programs, and a Post 16 provider.  

Reading Borough Council currently commission 100 places from Cranbury College to meet the needs of some of Reading’s most vulnerable and disadvantaged young people. The College also offers bespoke individual learning packages to those with complex needs and those who have difficulties accessing any of the College’s sites.
