Littledown School is a primary special school for children who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Many children will also have other Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) such as Autism and ADHD.

The work we do is both varied and challenging and, as a trauma-informed organisation, all staff are provided with extensive training and support. 

Staff at our school know that no two days are the same and that no two children are the same either. Our children require very special adults who can support children with behaviours that are complex and, at times, challenging.

HIGHER LEVEL TEACHING ASSISTANT (HLTA)

Level 5, SCP 13–23: £27,912–£33,115 inc. London Weighting (Fringe).
SEN allowance (£1,455) pro-rated for term time only hours inc. INSET;
pay award pending). Hours: 37 hours per week, term time only inc. INSET.
Permanent contract.

We would like to employ an experienced HLTA who can work as part of our superb team in order to support the learning and development of pupils with their range of needs. This role is to support the teacher leading our Alternative Provision as well as providing cover for teachers across the school.

It is essential that the ideal candidates will:

  • Have GCSE at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C) including English & Maths 
  • Have a level 3 qualification 
  • Be flexible, caring, hardworking and understanding
  • Have a positive and cheerful attitude
  • Be committed to work full-time
  • Have previous experience in supporting children with SEN/SEMH
  • Have a good amount of knowledge/experience of SEN/SEMH e.g., Autism, ADHD, Trauma, Attachment
  • Understand the importance of Trauma Informed Practice and be able to implement this approach in your daily routines
  • Have the ability to understand potential barriers to learning and implement strategies to overcome those barriers
  • Have the ability to communicate effectively and clearly in English both verbally and in writing.

It would be a distinct advantage for candidates to have successful experience of managing behaviours that challenge.

3 TEACHING ASSISTANTS (LEVEL 2 OR 3)

L2 TA: NJC level 3, SCP 5–7: £24,539–£25,333 inc. London weighting, pro rata;
plus SEN allowance (£1455) pro-rata for term time only inc. 5 INSET days;
pay award pending.
L2 actual pay inclusive of London weighting and SEN allowance: £22,383–£23,067.

L3 TA: NJC Level 4, SCP 8–12: £25,741–£27,460 inc. London weighting, pro rata;
plus SEN allowance (£1455) pro-rata for term time only hours inc. 5 INSET days;
pay award pending.
L3 actual pay inclusive of London weighting and SEN allowance: £23,418–£24,899.|

Hours: 37 hours per week, term time only + INSET. Permanent contract.

We would like to employ three experienced TAs (Level 2 or 3) who can work as part of our superb team in order to support the learning and development of pupils with their range of needs.

Although demanding, these posts are exciting and rewarding for the right candidate. The successful candidate must have a satisfactory enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). References will be sought prior to interview.
