EAL Learning Mentor

£12,1710–£13,758 (FTE £19,554–£21,166 pa).
28.75 hours per week, 8.30am–2.45pm (hours flexible).
Term time only plus 2 INSET days.

Prospect School is looking for an enthusiastic and pro-active Learning Mentor to work with students who speak English as an Additional Language. Knowledge of the Romanian language would be advantageous, but not essential. 

The post holder will assist in the support and inclusion of EAL students within the School. Working within a class, the successful candidate will join a well-established EAL team who provide appropriate one-to-one support for an individual pupil, or a small group of pupils within class of any ability and in any curriculum area. You will be committed to helping students in removing barriers to learning and need to be flexible and effective with a good understanding on how to motivate pupils to learn. The skills for the role include an enthusiasm to support each pupil to reach their full potential. Our EAL students achieve very highly, above national expectations. 

It is expected that the newly appointed member of staff will work as part of our EAL team, but also will be required to liaise with parents and act as a translator in meetings.
