Design Technology Technician

Proposed start date: ASAP.
West Berks Salary Band C, points 3–5: FTE £18,562–£19,312;
actual salary £7,424.80–£7,724.80. Permanent, 18 hours per week,
term time only plus 1 inset day in September.
Closing date: Sunday 26 September 2021.


We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative individual to join our Design Technology Department. You will provide technical support in the resistant materials, graphics and systems and control technology areas. 

You will support a range of routine duties within the department, including the areas of food and textiles technology. Practical experience of working with a variety of materials within a workshop environment would be advantageous but full training will be given.

This role needs someone who has a good command of English, is flexible, able to prioritise, learn quickly, and is positive and reliable. 

The Downs School, a Foundation, 11–18 comprehensive school, is a successful and oversubscribed school, judged ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted. The roll is over 1300 with a well-established Sixth Form. Results at all levels are consistently above national averages and Ofsted described our students as having ‘excellent personal and social skills’ who ‘achieve well academically’.
