Clerk to the Governing Body 

Required as soon as possible – Permanent Position, term-time only.
Salary: point 12 to 17. £12.02 to £13.28 per hour, timesheet-only basis (average 4–6 hours per
meeting for pre-meeting prep, minute-taking and admin time to produce and distribute minutes).

We are seeking to appoint an experienced, motivated and efficient clerk who will work closely with the Chair of Governor’s and the Headteacher. The successful candidate will have proven clerking experience, excellent organisation and administration skills and be able to communicate effectively.

The clerking role involves:

  • Preparing a purposeful meeting agenda and collating papers for each meeting
  • Distributing the agenda and papers in advance of each meeting
  • Attendance of all Governing Body Committee meetings and note taking
  • Recording decision making accurately and action points with timescales to produce meeting minutes
  • Providing advice to the Chair of Governor’s and the committees on governance, legislation and procedural matters
  • Maintaining impartiality and confidentiality

Meetings take place approximately 9 times per year and are usually held on Tuesday evenings at 6pm lasting approximately 2 hours. Other than attendance at meetings, the role will be carried out from home.
