Parent Support Advisor

30 hours per week. Term time only plus inset days.
Core hours 8.30am–3.30pm but must be flexible for school events.
Pay scale: Grade 6, point 18–24; FTE £24,982–£28,672; pro rata £17,399–£19,969.

We are looking for a Parent Support Advisor to lead the development of our Family Centre.

The successful applicant will work with our families to support, advise and signpost them in order to: 

  • Support children’s learning
  • develop their skills and abilities to manage behaviour
  • understand how to support their children’s health needs
  • learn strategies for positive parenting
  • understand the importance of school attendance
  • make links within the community
  • enhance parental engagement with the school 

Links with Highwood’s class teachers, pastoral team and senior leaders will be vital. The successful applicant will therefore need good communication and strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work independently; managing their own time and using their own initiative. Previous experience of working with families, especially those in challenging circumstances will be an advantage. 

Visits to the school are strongly encouraged.
