Head of School 

Job Title/Post: Head of School at Garland Junior School.
Salary: L8–15, £56,082–£66,627 Sept’23 FTE.
Contract Type: Permanent. Start date September 2024.
Responsible to: Executive Headteacher.
Hours: Full time.


The Burghfield Common Federation is looking to appoint a driven and inspirational Head of School who understands the importance of effective collaboration; a leader who will work effectively as part of the Senior Leadership Team to support the development of Garland Junior School. 

This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a new senior leadership team as part of the new federation. 

Key aspects of the role include:

  • To provide high quality professional leadership, in consultation with the Executive Headteacher 
  • Contribute and proactively support the vision, leadership and direction for the school 
  • Provide an example of excellence as a KS2 practitioner

The successful candidate must: 

  • Work with the senior leadership team to sustain high expectations and excellent practice in teaching and learning throughout the school 
  • Have experience of successful leadership 
  • Be an excellent practitioner who can demonstrate what outstanding teaching and learning looks like 
  • Demonstrate strong subject knowledge 
  • Understand what good curriculum design and pedagogy looks like 
  • Work with the executive Headteacher to lead, motivate, support, challenge and develop all staff to secure improvement, including their own CPD 
  • Have high expectations of all pupils’ achievements and behaviour 
  • Demonstrate high standards of personal integrity and professionalism
