We are looking to find an experienced and qualified SENCo, with recent experience working within a school setting, who shares our passion in ensuring all children and young people in RBWM can access education in a meaningful way. The successful candidate will be able to establish trusting relationships with the pupils by recognising and responding to individual needs. The pupils have a diverse range of medical needs and each one requires a bespoke learning and support package which will aid a reintegration back to an education setting. The successful candidate will be integral to that package, offering not just academic support but also social and emotional support and will help develop pupils’ re-engagement, resilience and confidence socially and academically.

The key aspects of the role will include:

  • To advise and offer practical support for schools around the identification, assessment and intervention of children and young people with special educational needs in line with the SEND Code of Practice, including support with the Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) process.
  • To provide support and training for setting-based SENCos including those new to the role to ensure they can fulfil the statutory responsibilities of the SENCo role.
  • To promote links between the settings, parents/carers, schools, social care and health services to support a coordinated and holistic approach towards meeting the needs of children and young people with SEND.
  • To develop and disseminate good practice on all aspects of SEND.
  • Experience in leading a team and undertaking line management.
