We are looking for an experienced and passionate Early Years and Key Stage 1 specialist to lead, with support, the learning of a Key Stage one Nurture Group Class. This position would be suited to either a qualified Teacher (experienced teacher or NQT) or experienced support staff working at Higher Level Teaching Assistant standards.

Job Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Assisting with the planning and implementation of the curriculum with age appropriate and stimulating activities to ensure that the children's learning and developmental needs are met.
  • Acting as a Key Person for an allocated group of preschool children aged from 2.5 years to school age.
  • Carrying out observations and assessments to identify each child's next steps, which will be be used to structure both the curriculum and individual key child planning.
  • Engaging in positive active play and to further extend the activities where required to enhance and support the children's play.
  • Adhering to the Pre-School’s policies and procedures, with particular regard to: Health and Safety, Behaviour, Safeguarding Children, Equality and Diversity, Inclusion and Special Educational Needs, and Confidentiality.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Seeking candidates ideally with an NVQ in Childcare (up to level 3) / Foundation Degree / EYPS or equivalent. However, will also consider candidates who are looking to develop a career within childcare and interested in studying towards an NVQ.
  • Knowledge of EYFS & OFSTED would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft office and other packages.
  • Dynamic individual with the ability to work as part of a team to make St George’s an outstanding Pre-School. 
  • Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with children, parents and colleagues building cohesive relationships.
  • Working with the team to provide a safe, stimulating and child centred learning environment.
